Goal: to create community while simultaneously raising money for artist scholarships

for Chroma Printmaking Residency.

​

Premise: Local artists are invited to work with Chroma Director and collaborative printer Kristin Sarette for a day making monotypes and monoprints. The artist gets to keep half of the prints and the other half become property of Friends of Chroma. These original prints will then be sold to raise money to fund scholarships to Chroma Printmaking Residency throughout the year.

Scholarships:

Karen Arms Biology Scholarship:

The Karen Arms Scholarship aims to support artists who demonstrate a commitment to integrating themes of environmental awareness and scientific inquiry into their printmaking practice.

 

Thom Smith Abstract Scholarship:

The Thom Smith Scholarship celebrates his legacy by supporting artists who embrace abstraction, experimentation, and a deep appreciation for color theory in their printmaking practice.

 

ABQ Local Artist Full Service Scholarship:

The ABQ Local Artist Full Service Scholarship is aimed at local Albuquerque artists whose primary practice is NOT printmaking. This scholarship includes a week at Chroma working with Head Printer Kristin Sarette to create at least one edition of fine art prints. Choose between lithography, screenprint, relief, or intaglio.

 

ABQ Local Printmakers ONLY Scholarship:

The ABQ Local Printmakers ONLY Scholarship is for printmakers living in Albuquerque,

NM. This one week staycation is exactly what you need to make those prints you’ve been meaning to!

about Chroma Printmaking Residency

Chroma is an urban printmaking residency located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We offer space year round featuring facilities for lithography, etching, relief, and screen print.

 

Residents are welcome to stay for 1 to 2 week residencies. Artists are provided with private sleeping quarters, a kitchenette, and bathroom. We provide a light filled drawing room and 24/7 access to the workshop. Field trips to the printmaking meccas of Albuquerque, including Takach Press and Tamarind Institute will be provided as part of the residency perks. Residencies at Chroma are designed to fit the unique needs of every artist, whether this time be for experimenting and learning, to execute a project, or to add on additional instruction.
